My Story…

I grew up in a small yoga-centric farm town in Southeast Iowa, where we meditated and did sun salutations in school twice a day (sounds fake, I know).  I hated it – imagine asking a kid to sit still in silence for more than 5 minutes!

From childhood, Yoga had always been the same, repetitive, dare I say “boring,” practice.  I was always drawn to activities that allowed me to move my body freely like dancing, swimming – hell, even walking – and my experience with yoga at that time was the exact opposite.  Again, hated it.

What I didn’t realize at the time, or after many rebellious years, is that those practices and disciplines I was exposed to as a child, help set the foundation for the rest of my life.

At age 23, I stumbled upon a vinyasa yoga class where I experienced my first 90 minutes of pure movement, and I was hooked.  I finally found a practice that worked for me, for my body, and my soul.

I stuck with the physical practice over the years, but what I gained was more than I could have ever expected.  I even tell my students today, that it might seem like they’re just learning poses and getting stronger and more flexible – which they are – but what they’re secretly gaining is an off-the-mat toolbox of ways to help live a more integrated, balanced and fulfilled life.

The coolest part about my personal tug-of-war story with yoga, is that no matter how hard I tried to run from it, yoga always found me.

Now, I get it.  If I consistently show up for my practice, it will continue to show up for me when I need it.  Much like anything you pay close attention to.

Yoga brought me back to my true authentic self.  I’m simply a happier and more complete person having this practice in my life.  So, for those who also crave a better work/life balance, want to quiet their endless mind chatter, or just simply want to move their bodies – I’m honored to share a practice that’s easily accessible for any and all.

My Bio…

I have now been teaching in Austin, TX since 2014, and am a registered RYT 500 teacher with Yoga Alliance.  I continue to train with my teachers Gioconda Parker and Christina Sell – which contributes to my unique blend of the two styles of Form & Flow.

I am a life-long yoga practitioner, yoga teacher and business marketing professional who understands balancing a full-time career with the struggle to make time for yourself.  I’m extremely passionate about cultivating a balance of strength and flexibility through the practice of yoga – both physically and mentally.  Through teaching, I hope to help nurture the balance that we all crave.

I teach an approachable alignment-based vinyasa class.  In class, students learn to stack their bones safely while moving freely within a flow practice – creating greater self-awareness both internally and externally. My classes are fun and accessible for all levels of practitioners with clear instructional cues.

I teach public, corporate and private classes and host workshops regularly.
